Israeli forces opened fire on Palestinians Near Gaza Aid Sites: Dozens Killed and Wounded

People are desperate for food in Gaza. Tragically, recent attempts to get aid have turned deadly. Israeli forces opened fire on Palestinians near food distribution points, causing many deaths and injuries.

Violence Erupts at Aid Distribution

In southern Gaza, near Rafah, a food distribution site became a scene of violence. At least 13 people died, and over 70 were wounded when Israeli forces fired on Palestinians. This site is one of four run by the Gaza Humanitarian Foundation (GHF), an organization that the U.S. and Israel support.

Palestinians go to these sites daily, hoping to find food for their families. However, these aid hubs have become dangerous. In less than two weeks, Israeli forces have killed at least 118 people near these locations.

Eyewitness Accounts of the Tragedy

People who were there described a chaotic and terrifying situation.

  • A planned aid delivery turned deadly: Palestinians were told to go west of Rafah for aid. When they arrived, they were surrounded by Israeli forces.
  • Trapped and Targeted: Tanks surrounded them, and soldiers began firing shells and shooting at them. People felt trapped and unable to escape.
  • Desperation for Food: People were there to get food for their children. Instead, they faced gunfire.
  • A Deliberate Act?: Some believe they were lured to the aid point only to be attacked.

Chaotic Distribution Leads to More Danger

The area where the aid is distributed used to be residential houses, but they are now gone. It is now just a large open area. People walk long distances to reach these distribution points, only to find a chaotic scene.

There is no organized system for giving out food. Instead, people jump over each other in a desperate attempt to get anything they can to feed their families.

When people get close to the food, Israeli forces begin to fire live ammunition. Many people have been injured in critical areas, such as the head, neck, and chest. Doctors say it is difficult to save their lives.

Limited Aid, Extreme Need

Palestinians wait for long periods, sometimes up to 24 hours, hoping for the GHF to announce that food is available.

However, the amount of food is very limited. There might only be a hundred boxes of food for thousands of people. This shortage makes the situation even more chaotic and dangerous.

In addition to live ammunition, Israeli forces have also used tear gas to try to scatter people at the distribution points.

These incidents have happened not only in Rafah, where 13 people were killed, but also in other distribution points.

Despite the danger, people continue to go to these sites because they feel it is the only way to get food for their families. They know they could be killed or injured, but they are desperate.
