Social Media Calls Out Israel's Hypocrisy After Iran Strikes

Recent events have sparked intense debate online. After Israel struck Iranian territory on June 13th, Iran responded.

This led to pro-Israel voices expressing outrage that Israeli civilians were affected. However, many social media users quickly pointed out the hypocrisy. These same voices had previously supported similar, or worse, actions against Palestinians.

Outrage and Accusations of Hypocrisy

Zippi Hotelli, Israel's ambassador to the UK, complained about her parents needing to seek shelter because of Iranian strikes. People online quickly criticized her. They shared clips of her saying Israel had the right to strike any civilian building in Gaza because Hamas tunnels were supposedly located there.

Double Standards?

Many online are saying Israel is now experiencing what it has inflicted on others. Some mocked what they see as a lack of self-awareness among Israelis. A video went viral asking why "the Jewish people" were being targeted, as if they "didn't do anything".

The internet responded strongly. Many pointed out that Israel started the attacks on Iran. They also highlighted the ongoing attacks on

Palestinians for nearly two years. Some users showed how Israeli social media has made fun of Palestinian suffering in Gaza.

Satire Exposes a Key Issue

One parody video mocked Israel's common excuse for bombing civilian buildings in Gaza and Lebanon. The video joked that Israel had hidden a rocket system inside an apartment complex in Tel Aviv.

It twisted Israel's claims that Hamas hides weapons in hospitals and other places where civilians are.

Interestingly, a well-known Zionist account shared the video without realizing it was satire. This mistake highlighted the point the video was trying to make.

Applying the Same Logic

A Palestinian analyst noted that Israel's reasons for targeting civilians in Gaza could also apply to its own actions. Footage shows Israeli soldiers taking shelter in schools and hospitals with civilians during Iranian missile strikes.

By Israel's own standards, these locations could then be seen as fair targets.

Some critics went even further, saying that 60% of Israeli civilians serve in the army.

This means that most Jewish Israelis are not truly civilians. Israeli law requires citizens who have served in the military to continue as reservists until age 40.

A Shift in Global Opinion?

Are Israelis starting to understand why they are losing global sympathy? Can they recognize the hypocrisy that has shaped how the world sees them?

Are they now realizing the terrible suffering they have caused in Gaza for almost two years? Will they finally admit that their continued strikes on Syria, Lebanon, Yemen, Gaza, and now Iran, are not the actions of a victim?
