Russia's latest Attacks on Ukraine:
Russia has increased its attacks on Ukraine with missiles and drones. This happened after President Trump said his talk with Russian President Vladimir Putin did not help end the war.
Russia launched a big missile and drone attack overnight. The attack reached many areas, from Kharkiv and Sumy to Lviv and Bukovyna.
President Zelenskyy said that Russia launched 26 cruise missiles and 597 attack drones. More than half of these were Shahid drones. He also said that Ukraine's air force shot down over 20 missiles and most of the drones.
Sadly, at least two people died, and about 20 were hurt in the attack. Zelenskyy wants tougher actions against Russia, including:
- More sanctions
- Better air defense
- More money to stop drones
Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov visited North Korea. He met with leader Kim Jong-un. Lavrov thanked North Korea for helping to "liberate Russian territories."
This meeting is one of many between Russia and North Korea. Last June, they signed a deal to work together on military matters. This shows that their partnership is getting stronger.
The US has started sending military aid to Ukraine again. They are also sending a special envoy, Keith Kellogg. This comes after a pause in sending some weapons.
What does this mean for the war? One expert, Scott Lucas, said that President Trump's idea of working with Putin to end the war is not working. Putin still wants to take over Ukraine.
President Zelenskyy wants tougher international sanctions against Russia. But will this happen soon?
Lucas thinks the US might not do much, because Trump still wants to trade with Russia. However, the US Congress is considering tougher sanctions. Two senators met with Zelenskyy to talk about this.
The question is whether Congress can pass the bill and if Trump will agree to it.
Also, the European Union is trying to pass its 18th package of sanctions. These sanctions would target Russian energy and banks. But some countries, like Hungary and Slovakia, are against it. If the EU passes these sanctions, it could hurt Russia's ability to fund the war.
The situation in Ukraine is still very tense. Russia is increasing its attacks. The US is sending aid, but its long-term support is uncertain. Tougher sanctions could hurt Russia, but it's not clear if they will happen.
