Is Israel Near Collapse? Protests and Threats Challenge Netanyahu's Government
Many people are talking about regime change in Iran, but could a change in power be closer to Israel? Israel is dealing with problems at home. These include big disagreements among the people, protests that stop things from working right, and dangers that could end the country.
Protests Against Government Plans
Even before October 7th, many Israelis were protesting Prime Minister Netanyahu and his government. People were upset about plans to change the courts. The government wanted to take power away from the Supreme Court and give it to themselves.
After October 7th, there were even more protests. People wanted the hostages to be freed. When Netanyahu fired the head of Shin Bet (Israel's security agency), more people protested. Before Iran attacked, there were protests almost every week.
Iran's Response and Its Impact
After Iran attacked Israel, many Israelis talked about what happened on social media. They said that Iran targeted areas where civilians lived. Some people did not seem to care too much about the attacks. However, life in Israel has become very hard. People have to spend a lot of time in bomb shelters, and many things are closed.
Iran has warned people in Tel Aviv and Haifa to leave. Israelis are not used to this kind of life. They are used to living comfortably and making others suffer. Many Israelis have two passports. They do not want to live like this, and they want to leave.
Trapped? Citizens Prevented from Leaving
Now, Israel is stopping its own citizens from leaving. The government has said that people cannot leave. Israel is a small country with not many resources. If Iran keeps attacking for a few more weeks, Israel might not be able to survive as a country.
No one wants to live in a place like that. Everyone would want to leave.
A Change in Israel?
One possibility is that the Israeli people and the opposition will realize that Israel is close to falling apart. They might decide to remove Netanyahu and his government from power. This would mean a regime change in Israel.
